Multi-Media
Multimedia PC's - Speakers, soundcards and a CD-ROM turn a PC into a basic
Multimedia PC. Normally there is a little more to this (uprated video, larger
monitor and more memory) as well, but for the purposes of this page we won't
split hairs - they often cost a bit more than their lower counterparts
.
Many I.T. Managers or Finance Directors would suggest that Multimedia PC's are
not worth installing on each desk.
" We simply don't need that kind of power for most users"
On the face of it the question for Multimedia seems an easy one to answer.
We suggest that ALL PC's be Multimedia, whatever their initial intended use....
This is because we have seen many installations that have not been installed
with Multimedia, and then the items needed have been fitted later. Think of the
possible uses of the Internet and it's private version called the Intranet.
Almost all staff members could benefit from Multimedia access. Uses range from a
video message from the chairman, to an induction course or software training
CD-ROM.
Over the coming months, having the use to play media clips on each PC will prove
invaluable.
